Self defence tips for women

Be aware of the surroundings, be careful of what you carry and be ready to defend yourself  in  an unwanted, dangerous situation.
A few simple tips on how best to defend against a bigger, stronger opponent can save your life.

Maintain your distance:  Avoid physical confrontation, try to maintain your distance and if possible,  extend the distance between the two of you to make your escape possible.
When there is no alternative to getting physical, remember that:
A well- timed  palm slap can help you to escape. Use strikes  that do not require too much accuracy or complicated movements;   gouges, rakes, slaps, bites can all be effective.
A swift kick or knee to the groin, if landed correctly, is a guaranteed way to weaken your male opponent.
Effective self-defence requires  the ability to think strategically, and understand how to defend yourself with as little wear-and-tear on you as possible.  Carry small weapons like a pocket knife, pepper spray etc.  Keep your weapons like clubs or kitchen knifes handy at night.
Use  everyday items to defend yourself when attacked:
Keys –   Put your keys in your hand with the sharpest side facing outwards, stab your attacker in any soft tissue like  the eyes, throat or  the temple, then escape.
Pens – Using a pen or any sharp object like described above, can be a very effective weapon.
Deodorant bottles or cans of soda – spray it in the attacker’s eyes or smash it into the side of the attacker’s head.
